Dear Latinix students,
I hope this email finds you well at this busy time of the semester! My name is Ana Rivera and I am a new
therapist here at the counseling center. I have been hoping to attend one of your meetings to connect
with you and introduce myself and the services we provide at the counseling center, but unfortunately
my schedule has not allowed doing so. I am a bilingual therapist (English-Spanish) and in my 10+years of
clinical experience I have been honored to work with a diverse population in a number of settings
including; community clinics, local non-profit organizations, and in my private practice. I am from Lima,
Peru and have lived in Miami, Florida for 9 years prior to moving to the Twin Cities for graduate school
at the University of Minnesota 12 years ago. My own experiences as a first generation college student in
this country has allowed me to experience first-hand some of the challenges and opportunities of
attending a higher education institution while having to juggle multiple non-traditional demands. I hope
that these experiences inform my work and allow me to better relate to students who may have similar
backgrounds .It is my passion and desire to serve our multicultural student population and I would love
to invite you to check out our website. Finding sources of support and containment can really make a
difference in someone’s life. Please know that you can contact me at …. And request a consultation to
learn more about how therapy could be beneficial to you.
Sincerely,
Ana Rivera, LICSW
